Car Maintenance: How to Use Waterless Car Wash Products
Waterless car washes provide a simple and effective alternative to traditional car wash methods. You don’t need to get out 10 different kinds of tools or waste time with prewashing, soaping, rinsing, and waxing. A waterless car wash can save you time and money when it comes to car maintenance for the exterior. Thompson Sales explains how to use waterless car wash products for your vehicle to get the best possible shine.
Purpose of a Waterless Car Wash
A waterless car wash product does three main things for your car. It cleans, shines, and protects your vehicle’s exterior. Waterless car wash products are fantastic for car maintenance with regards to the paint job because it reduces the number of substances that come in contact with the car, and it saves you time. Many waterless car wash products wash and wax at the same time.
How a Waterless Car Wash Works
These kinds of car maintenance products come in a simple spray bottle that you can use for dozens of car washes before it runs out. All you need is a microfiber cloth (or two) and some gloves in case your skin gets irritated easily. Waterless car washes are ideal for light amounts of dust, dirt, and grime in between thorough washes with water.
Waterless car wash liquid feels like a slick, light oil when you spray it on your vehicle’s surface. You simply spray the waterless car wash on your car, wipe the substance off, and then buff it with a clean cloth.
How Much to Use
Saturate the surface with a generous amount of waterless car wash. Hold the spray bottle about 6 inches from the surface of your car, give the bottle one quick spray, and then move to the next spot. Do this until the entire surface you’re cleaning is covered.
Clean in Stages
Because you’re not using water, you don’t have to go from top to bottom. Start with whatever surface you want, but clean your vehicle in stages. For example, wash the hood thoroughly before moving to the next area.
Use Microfiber Cloths
The key here is to use microfiber cloths. Use one to wash and one to buff, or use one to both wash and buff so long as you flip over the clean side to buff out the surface. Spray the waterless car wash over the entire surface you’re cleaning. Then wipe in one direction, in a straight line and the same direction with each pass, to remove light dirt on the surface. Moving in the same direction prevents getting dirt on areas you just cleaned.
It’s important to use the proper technique when using waterless cash wash. For instance, on the hood, you should start in the corner closest to the driver’s side door and wipe in one direction towards the headlight. Once you reach the end of the hood, go back up and wipe down the adjacent row. Do this until you complete the entire hood. Flip over the microfiber cloth, or use a clean cloth, to buff out the waterless car wash. You can use the straight-line wiping technique or use tight S-shapes for best results during this car maintenance.
