Taking care of your car is important if you want it to last as long as possible. Sometimes it can be overwhelming keeping track of all the preventative maintenance measures you have to take. Checking Your Tires

Some cars have a light that will alert you when tire pressure is low, but it’s good to catch it before your tires get to that point. Buying a cheap tire pressure gauge is a good idea and checking them every once in a while will help you make sure they’re at optimal pressure.

Having your tires at a good pressure is easier on your car and easier on your wallet because it saves gas money. Also, check the tread on your tires. Get them replaced once the tread is worn down too low.

Check Your Fluids

Your car needs a variety of fluids to function properly. Chief among these is your oil. Your oil makes sure the engine runs smoothly. You should check your oil as often as instructed by your owner’s manual. Some cars need to be checked every few thousand miles, where some cars can be checked every 6,000 miles, or even longer. It all depends on the type of car and the type of oil you use.

Oil isn’t the only fluid you should check though. Make sure to check your transmission fluid, antifreeze, power steering fluid, brake fluid, coolant, and wiper fluid too.

Check Your Belts

At some point, your belts will need to be replaced. After a certain amount of miles, they’ll be worn down. You can have your mechanic take a look at your belts and tell you if they’re worn down enough to be replaced or if they’re still good to go.

Battery

Yep, your car battery needs maintenance too. Make sure your battery isn’t leaking and use a battery tester to see if it needs to be replaced. Also, if you see any corrosion ask your mechanic to clean it off.
